The LESSON of Bob Basso by Dominique
I have been wondering what happened in the case of Bob Basso who had been personally invited by President Obama
[...] to meet in the White House "to discuss the disturbing nature of the videos."
So, I decided to try and find out what had transpired and what I found is quite interesting.
According to World Net Daily,
The day after the WND report, Basso appeared on the "Jerry Doyle Show" and reported he had been receiving several hundred telephone calls a day. He said he wanted "to make it very clear to all those folks who are saying, 'Please don't be intimidated by our government and stand up and fight.' I guarantee you Mr. Paine and yours truly, Mr. Bob Basso, are not timid souls and will not be intimidated by anyone."
Basso also said he had no intention of "attacking" the president.
He said at that point he was waiting "until we get any kind of response from the White House that this is a valid invitation or its not some kind of a scheme." He promised the Doyle show would be the first group he would contact.
He said he had heard from individuals representing themselves as the president's "spokespeople," or those who "work for his Internet committee."
Basso told the radio program the smart thing is to "wait until the inviter talks to the invitee if in fact that's valid."
Did you catch that? His internet committee? What is their job description? Scanning the internet for people like Bob Basso, or you and me and then "inviting us" to the White House to
discuss the disturbing nature of the videos [or blogs, or journals, or writings, or comments?]
This is nothing more than Chicago style intimidation and thugocracy! However, this isn't Chicago. This is America and this will not work with the American people. All that President Obama and his cabinet will succeed in doing is make the people angrier as well as more determined.
Another interesting item to note came from Jesse Edwards, a Doyle show producer, who said,
[...] it appears that because the "invitation"
became public, the White House has let the issue drop. "We went on the
air with it. Now he hasn't heard anything,"
In addition, according to Free Republic,
In a statement released by Basso's associate to WND, he said he had not yet been summoned to the White House.
Jesse Edwards, a Doyle show producer, said it appears that because the "invitation" became public, the White House has let the issue drop.
"We went on the air with it. Now he hasn't heard anything," he told WND.
Also, on March 25th, when this all broke, Jerry Doyle
reported on his show that the creator of the viral video in the link above is not appearing on his show due to intervention from the white house and Obama himself.
He has been told not to discuss it on his show but he is going ahead and re-playing the audio in direct defiance of the request from the white house.
Okay, if that isn't significant to you, let me explain what I see. President Obama was willing to use intimidation on a fellow American who was simply exercising his first Amendment rights UNTIL it became PUBLIC. Then all went quiet.
When we soldiers are strategizing how to win a war, we always look for a weakness in the opposition's strategy8B3626. I believe we have just found a weakness in how President Obama and his cabinet work. Once their deeds, intimidation tactics, or whatever hit the public airways, they withdraw. Sometimes (probably most) they regroup and other times they just drop it.
THIS is why is it vitally important for each of us to stand up and use the right to protest and the right to speak that was given to us through the blood of our forefathers. It will force what is being done in the dark of our government out into the light, and when the light hits it, it looses the perceived power it had.
The lesson of Bob Basso is that our government if just as afraid, if not more afraid of the power of the people. America stands alone in the ability of her people to resist, to stand for principle, to speak out and say "no more. We have had enough!"
If you haven't already done so, consider joining a TEA Party in your area. Let's not waste the lesson of Bob Basso.
Remaining Steadfast,
