No doubt, they all vary in form, making for separate and full chapters in our government and economic high school texts. But, they all GRAB wealth through COERCIVE governmental agency (as opposed to persuasive means of human relationships).
They all feed upon the productive resources of others. They all foster a governmental elitism, letting us all know "our place - our lesser place" in society. The government is king. We are the "lesser classes". Hence, "class structure" is artificially enacted and foisted upon a society.
Incidentally, the differing forms of socialism (see below) were not concocted because someone loved a theory or two. Their differing systems were structured in ways designed to facilitate FRAUD.
Nazism (National Socialism) - took advantage of a broken German pride (inflation, Versailles Treaty and World War I defeat) to cater to "Aryan Supremacy" and the desire for an alleged need for "justice" (revenge) against others… Monarchical socialism (Rex Lex "the king is law"), so dominant throughout history: it simply attempted to legitimize some regal enthronement of a powerful elite (usually moneyed nobility or military "hero")… Note: Here’s a great place to raise the issue of Monarchy as established in the Bible. Was such Monarchy "just and upright"? Communism - used the deceit of "class structure" (bourgeoisie vs. proletariat) to foster societal envy as policy ("take from the haves and give to the have-nots). The ENVY MENTALITY is the heart and soul of socialism and it is this: "You’ve got it. I don’t. That’s not fair, even if I shouldn’t. So, even if getting it from you doesn’t help me, seeing you lose it is gratifying to me". In reality, the very existence of "class" is artificial and betrays the existence and ongoing operation of its (subtle) cause- Socialism - which can only exist IF economic subordination exists. So, Socialism legislatively/judicially/executively impoverishes its peoples by design. Fascism (Corporation/Contract socialism) erects institutions (like ancient Rome) by which corporate - like entities cooperate with government to police (control) the productive resources of everyone. That was Imperial(istic) Rome of old. It was also their so-called prior "Republic" as well. For those who know something about Roman history: the reason Julius and Augustus Caesar were able to "transform" the Republic into Empire was due to the fact that there was nothing to "transform"… there was only the need to "declare" the end of the one and the formal beginning of the other. NOTHING CHANGED in government other than the fact that one person - Caesar - was in charge of all the offices of government, rights, finance, and military organization. Dictatorship (strong man rule to implement socialism) becomes the overt form of socialism when the blinders come off and everyone knows the ruler or ruling clique is ruthless. Mercantilistic socialism - the colonies exist to serve the mother country, which controls and dictates all resources, markets, trades, prices, and labor Feudalism - this was the 1200 year nursery where all the European socialisms were cultured in mind and economic thought. It was fostered by aristocratic (money) nobilities who took legal structures to keep classes in place, determining their places and positions in society through contractual arrangements. The resultant serfdom was kept in place by legal arrangements agreed to by "other than" serf or serf family. For the Complete post visit http://earlychristianamerica.com/blog/?p=66Liberal - also known as the "the left" are those people who believe in bigger government, higher taxes, and more regulation. Liberals, in general, believe that individuals cannot make healthy choices on their own in matters of finance, investment, retirement, benevolence, religion or morality, and it must be dictated to them in form of law. For example, most liberals are in favor of more gun control, more welfare and aid programs, medicare, social security, federal establishment of "gay marriage", on-demand abortion and government sponsored healthcare. They are opposed to new oil drilling or refining and believe that all war is wrong and that the military serves little purpose. In general, they are Democrats.
Conservative - also known as "the right" are those people on the opposite end of the spectrum. These people, in general, do not trust large government at all (which explains the tendency of conservatives to own guns). They believe in less federal government, that states should be allowed to make their own laws governing marriage and abortion rights, and that welfare and aid programs should be left to religious and private non-profit agencies, not government beaurocrats. They believe that allowing freedom of business to run as for-profit companies without regulation will create more jobs and more economic growth, and use our natural resources to free us from foreign dependence. They also believe in individual accountability for your future (savings and investment as opposed to medicare and social security). Most conservatives believe in freedom of religion, but not exclusion of religion. In general, they are Republicans.
Moderate - are called neither right nor left. They fall in the middle both in terminology and in politcal thought. They are those that have no particular political party affiliation, and have blended views between the right and left. For example, they may be for governmental healthcare but opposed to gay marriage, or they may be for on-demand abortion but opposed to higher taxes. They believe that big government has its place, but should be in cooperation with local government. These voters, when they vote, can swing either way in a given election depending on the candidate.
Independent - is also neither right nor left. Unlike the moderate, however, they have very strong polical ideals. Usually the independent is the one who is tired of politics as usual, and looks to effect a change in governmental policy by defining themselves independently of the two political extremes. The Independent has his own ideal candidate and political policies that may be considered by either the left or the right as "extreme" on certain views. This voter usually votes within his own party with little results and the "change" he effects is usually just to sway moderates.
These are the definition of those terms as I understand them. Please keep in mind that these are, of course, generalities, and real people usually are not so easily defined. My comments are not meant to label any individual or insult anyone's convictions.
Conservative- Freedom of faith, liberty and protection of family and home
Liberal wants to save the world at any cost for any reason
independent no party is good enough for them, can't really claim any one belief long enough to find a party
moderate middle of the road, wants cake and to eat it too
Liberal, not to be confused with Libertarian. Let me start with Libertarian.
The Libertarian desires greater individual liberty as an ideology and so is closer to the Conservative than to the Liberal but the major difference is a desire for minimal governance resulting in greater opportunity for monopoly and power brokering the politicians. Liberty over equality.
The Liberal also claim a desire for individual liberty but in fact want less responsibility, thus making them closer to fascist leaning on a centralized power to control undesired behavior at the same time requiring that authority to foment no consequences on society. Their ideology is for the government to handle all problems so no responsibility is left for the voter except voting. Equality over liberty. Not just equal rights and opportunity, but equal wealth, equal comfort, etc.,
The Independent is the uncommitted. Generally, these folks are critical of aspects of both major parties but have no coalesced vision to adhere to so don't have to defend their own positions unless they verbalize them. Usually, the Independent reserves judgment until they have what they believe to be a handle on the issue. Admirable on the surface, but generally unwilling or unable to dig up the relevant information and so wait until the debates are over to make up their minds which policy or policy pusher to back and which to oppose.
The Moderate would view themselves as fair minded. These folks prefer to avoid hard line stances. Hard line politics are unsustainable in their minds. To make policy based on either a hard left or a hard right principal and the majority will oppose either the policy after it is instilled as a law or they oppose it while still conceptual stages.
(Independents and Moderates tend to vote very similarly and are known as the swing voter block.)
The Conservative holds to traditional values. Generally, they've been raised in religious homes and as such, have observed real benefit to long held societal values. They recognize a clear definition of right and wrong and would argue the merits of that clear line thinking for society.
Liberal: Government will take care of you. No independent thought, Government will tell you how to think. The people cannot be trusted to make the right decision. Everyone, except the elitist, is equal. No one is better than anyone else, except for the ruling class.
Independent: Can't make a decision, but usually leans towards the left.
Moderate: Can't really make up their minds what to believe, trust someone else to make decisions.
Thanks Kathy - interesting reading. Is there a flipside analysis of various Conservative movements? (paleo-conservatisim, neo-conservatism, etc.)
The "GRAB wealth through COERCIVE" tactics can list many a so-called conservative within our government...
